Updated The ART.COM SEARCH RESULTS PAGE

My Role:

In this role, I served as the lead UI/UX designer and researcher. I worked closely with my product manager, UX manager, chief experience officer, and the development team.

The Challenge:

Originally this project was intended to provide more accurate and relevant search results. My task was to clean up the UI/UX and bring a stronger presence around the artwork and decor. Everything else on this page was considered secondary.

The Outcome:

  • We added the option to open and close filters to keep the page cleaner, so the end-user could experience the products without the filters dominating the page.

  • We cleaned up the breadcrumbs, page title, and pagination area. The ultimate goal was to create a clean UI and make the products the primary focus on the page.

  • We made the product images more visible. To do this, we went from showing four to three columns of products that made the product images larger. We also added a light gray square behind each image to balance out the page and bring a stronger focus to the product images.

  • We added an add-to-cart button available on each product. This unobtrusive option simplified the user flow and allowed the customer to checkout quicker.
