CRICUT Design Space Profile

Responsible For: UI/UX/Visual Design/Research/User Testing & Interviews. I worked closely with my project manager, design director, fellow designers, and the development team.

Filling THE Users Needs: 

Cricut has a substantially large crafting community. The Cricut crafting community had been voicing the need to share and sell their projects with fellow crafters.

The Solution:

Build a responsive space where crafters could have a profile to showcase their projects.

Other actions would be:

• Save designs

• Share designs

• Follow other crafters

• Sell designs (phase two)

RESEARCH:

Along with my Sr. Product Manager, we researched as many other crafting companies as possible to see how they built a marketplace for the crafting community.

How it works: 

You would create your projects inside Cricut Design Space. Once you are happy with your project inside Cricut Design Space, you would choose to publish it to the community. Once a project is published, the user would head over to their community profile to make any profile updates or rearrange projects and follow other crafters.

Before we started, we needed to figure out where the new user profile and community would be located inside of the Cricut Design Space.

researching the users' needs

We set out to build a profile page for Cricut crafters to showcase their work. I worked closely with my Sr. Product Manager, every step of the way as we researched the needs of our users. We talked with a ton of active users in the community after gathering all the information the top needs were:

• Profile picture / Avatar

• Large hero image

• A bio area

• Social shares

• A space to list projects

• Favorites

• Shares

• Following

• Followers

• Easy editing of the different sections

Final Profile

Below is an overview of the different templates we build for the different sections of the crafter's profile.

The Favorites and the Share tab are the same templates.

Profile: Mobile Web View

Profile Edit State: Update Profile Picture

When the user is inside of the edit state, we highlighted each area that could be updated. Once the user is happy with their updates, all they have to do is hit save to see the updates.

We designed the feature to update the profile photo as simply as possible. The user could drop and drop any photo or choose to browse their computer for a perfect profile picture.
